Non-Dominant Challenge

After taking a couple weeks off from the Diva Challenge I have been itching to get back in the fray.
This week's challenge is to tangle with your non-dominant hand and, oh boy, it was not easy!  It was a very humbling experience to say the least and it REALLY made me appreciate how much easier it is to work with my right hand. I started another tile immediately after creating this one just because I wanted to experience the ease of doing just that.  Using my left hand was quite entertaining -- sometimes it seemed like I could make several pretty good strokes in a row then WHAMMO  the hand just wouldn't do what I told it to.  Filling in the black that I so enjoy was a real test of patience. It was all I could do not to grab the pen out of my left hand!
On the positive side, it was eye-opening and made me appreciate the acceptance and support within the Zentangle process and community.  There are no mistakes in Zentangle!

  1. Great job, I hear ya on the impatience of filling in the black. I too kept wanting to grab the pen with my Dominant hand and make it work! But kept at it. Aren't we amazing?

  5. Nicely done. We learn a lot more in this challenge than just creating the tile.

  7. Very nice non-dom tile. Everything you said is so true...I had to concentrate sooo hard to keep my right had flat on the table.

  9. Lovely work! The more I read about everyones experience, the more it sinks in: it's not been easy for any of us, and yet it gives so much. The experience is brilliant. And so is your work.

  10. I love your comment about wanting to grab the pen out of the left hand. That's exactly how I felt. Your tile looks surprisingly cheery and charming considering the circumstances it was created under!

  11. Hi, Karen! Great Zentangle tile! I love how the Pokeroot is spilling out of the bottom. I've always thought Pokeroot looks like cherries...then I thought of yours as loking like cherries spilling out of a basket. Among other things. Like a seashell (Onamato)...and a loose skein of yarn (Echoism). I thought about trying Echoism with my non-dom hand, but didn't find it in me to face that challenge! Fun, energetic tile. :-)
