Diamonds Challenge

So this week's Diva challenge to use Four Diamonds as a string  was one that I was happy to take on. Anything with a  grid seems to be a grounding starting point for me when I am stymied as to how to begin a Zentangle tile.  I decided to fill in the background with black, inspired by how Maria described doing so as a meditation in itself.  What with all the various rumblings in my head, some meditation seemed like a great idea!  The diamond string offers so much versatility it will be an idea to use again and again.  So here is my tile.  I am not thrilled with the results, but the process was great!  I used a white Gelly roll for the little border tangle.  I do not have a name for it, but I do seem to be using it here and there in my tiles.  Hint, hint, names welcome:)  And if you haven't already done so, do read the post that tells the story of the Four Diamonds Fund to fight childhood cancer and how it came about.

  1. I love how you used black in the vented of th diamonds, it makes a great focal point! I also think that black always makes a great background for zentangle!

    1. Wow was my spelling off on that one. What I meant was that I love the black in the center of the diamonds!

  2. I love the way you incorporated the four different patterns into the diamonds. A stunning piece that I could look at for hours.

  3. I love how the white pops on the black background. As for naming your tile...hmmmm...it looks a bit like a stake....or maybe boltz?

  6. The contrast of white on black is great, very effective. I really enjoy your new tangle it reminds me of Quabog with a mushroom influence, very fun!

  7. I like the tile a lot, and really like the border. Maybe you could name it "Spike?" JoyceB

  9. I really like your border and the contrast of the black background. How about "A-lee-N"

  10. Thanks for all the great comments! As for the border tangle, Danni and another CZT, Amy, have pointed out that it is alot like the Zentangle pattern Quabog, and I realize that they are right, so I guess I really was just tangling my own slight variant of it! In any event it is so fun to see the name ideas that people come up with, and I may just have to create a unique tangle just to have the pleasure of naming it. Happy tangling one and all!

  11. This is a great design, Karen. Love how the black background pushes the diamond forward as the focus. And I use Quabog (variation) a lot, too. It's one of those fun fillers.
